Congressmen Ask for UIGEA Clarification

Last week, four Republican congressmen sent an open letter to the U.S. Treasury and the Federal Reserve Board calling for clarification to the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA). The congressmen state their support for the UIGEA, but gripe about its "vague language".
In addition to requesting "unlawful internet gambling" to be defined, the letter calls for an Administrative Law Judge to head the rulemaking process. They also requested an analysis to be done that will estimate the financial burden placed upon businesses effected by the UIGEA.
As it relates to the poker world, this news isn't exactly good. Currently, the UIGEA has no direct effectiveness since the Treasury Department has yet to specify the rules banks must follow under the law. This letter puts pressure for rules to be created and "unlawful internet gambling" to be defined. If clarity regarding the UIGEA arises as a result of this letter, it could make things even more difficult for U.S. citizens to play real-money online poker.
